If you've found your way here, WELCOME! I have decided to put my bid for world domination on hold while I run for a four-year seat for Truckee Town Council 2020.

I've lived in Truckee since 1998 and I've grown with our town through strong times and lean times. I know so many amazing people who are able to still live here and so many who had to move on. As our town goes into the next decade, I want to help those of us who are struggling to maintain our quality of life, so we can continue to contribute to our vibrant community and keep Truckee from being just another spot on the map.

I am certainly the underdog in this bid for Town Council - I don't have the money, degree, connections, or experience that some of the other candidates bring to the table, but I have just as much skin in this game as anyone. I'm trying to live and contribute to our community just like you. But if I'm running for Town Council, I'm doing it MY WAY.

NO POLITICS - I don't like politicians and I don't subscribe to the ideas of talking points, glad-handing, empty promises, and personal agendas. I'll do what is needed to get the job done, but I'm not going to sacrifice my integrity or values to achieve it.

NO DONATIONS - I'm sure not made of money, but I don't want yours. I'm funding this on my own paychecks - two weeks at a time.

NO SOLICITED ENDORSEMENTS - I don't want you to vote for me because someone else told you that I'm a good candidate. Do YOUR own homework and make up YOUR own mind. If you think I'm qualified to guide our town, please consider putting a sign in your yard (see below).

NO RUNAROUND - I'm no stranger to hustling. I'll work hard to keep you informed, so there are no surprises when we're discussing the issues. I'll do my best to ensure I'm prepared and if I don't know the answer to your question, I'll find it!

FULL ACCESS - We all live here. I want to hear your issues so we can work together to make Truckee better. If you have 5 minutes to spare, let me know where we can talk. I'll work around my schedule to accommodate you. Please consider adding your voice to this website by sharing your Truckee experience, and your ideas on how we can make this place better for you, me, our parents, and our kids.

IT WOULD BE MY HONOR TO SERVE - Truckee is a large part of the very fabric of my being. Town Council is not a trophy or a stepping stone or a footnote on my resume. It's an honor bestowed upon me by the people of my community and it's a huge a responsibility that I don't take lightly.

IF ELECTED, I'M VOLUNTEERING TO SERVE - Town Council members are paid $645 per month to serve. I already have a full-time job and I'm not running for Town Council to supplement my income - I'm doing it to help our community. That money will go back into the General Fund. (That's $7,740/year or just under $31,000 per 4-year term, per Town Council member.)

IF I'M NOT ELECTED, I'LL HAPPILY CONCEDE - Ultimately, the voters in this town make the decision of who is best qualified to lead Truckee. If that's not me, that's fine. I accept their decision and will not contest it.

One Final Note

Town Council presents the best opportunity for me to help our community and if I can't serve in 2020, that's okay. I'll continue trying to contribute to our community, but since the cost of living is rapidly increasing and the availability of affordable housing remains stagnant, I've come to the unfortunate conclusion that unless we enact some real change, most of us will probably have to leave Truckee - myself included. This is not a threat or motivated attack on Truckee or the community; it's a statement of circumstance. I want to live here and continue to be part of our community but like many before me, I've realized that unless I find myself into a large sum of wealth, I'll have to pack up and find another place to call home.

Win or lose, I want to use these next few months to bring legitimate local issues to the forefront of this election for dynamic discussion and identifying steps toward resolution. I encourage you to add your voice to the discussion of "The Issues Facing Truckee" below.
